Because everyone matters.

John needed help paying his back rent, and reached out to one of our Basic Needs Case Managers at the suggestion of his counselor at Centre County Drug and Alcohol Office. He explained that he had medical bills due to his physical disability.Paying those bills had caused him to fall behind on his rent. Due to John’s physical disability it was also difficult for him to access other services he needed.

John disclosed that he was recovering from substance misuse and struggles with his mental health, including suicidal ideation. With that in mind, John and our Case Manager established goals of finding accessible transportation services, renewing his SNAP application, and sticking to a financial stability plan. John was confident that this plan would allow him to gain financial and mental health sustainability.

His confidence was justified; John’s financial crisis was relieved and he is now on the path to a stable future. John was so grateful for our services and resources, and shared that he “couldn’t imagine what his situation would be like without our help."
